Peter Corcoran - Vintage c. 1839 Engraved Print
Item Description
PETER CORCORAN
Fiction and Fact intertwine with each other regarding this 18th century fighter. Pierce Egan thinks highly of him and projects Corcoran as being somewhat of an Irish Superman whose eventual downfall was due to drink and gambling.
Other writers are not so kind and accuse Egan of literal fabrication in the telling of Corcoran's story. Most accounts credit him with being an average brawler who could take an awful beating without going down. He is also rumoured to have been on the winning end of several fixed fights.
